From the runway to the sidewalks, New York Fashion Week is a spectacle that transforms the city into one giant stage. It’s not just the official shows that dazzle—the streets themselves become a runway, brimming with statement coats, bold patterns, tailored perfection, and shoes that stop you in your tracks. Everywhere you turn, there’s drama, creativity, and an undeniable energy that makes Fashion Week one of the most exhilarating times of year.
Each season I attend, I find myself reflecting on how different—and yet somehow the same—every experience feels. I can still remember those early years: crashing on a friend’s couch in Spanish Harlem, squeezing into a tiny three-bedroom Airbnb with six girls, living on McDonald’s between shows, and editing into the early morning hours on barely any sleep. It was chaotic, exhausting, and wildly unpolished—but also pure magic. This time around, though the accommodations were a bit more comfortable (thank you, UberEats, for keeping me fed without having to step outside in the rain), the thrill and sleeplessness remained. And truthfully? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
A More Intentional Season
This year felt especially meaningful for me. Instead of trying to be everywhere at once, I carved out time to see the designers and brands that inspire me most, while also reconnecting with old friends who share the same love for this wild, beautiful industry. The rest of my days were spent creating content that captured not only the fashion but the heartbeat of New York itself.
Imagine weaving through Sezane L’Appartement, dashing across crosswalks with taxis honking on all sides, juggling an umbrella in one hand and a coffee in the other—all in between fashion shows. That blend of chaos and beauty is what I love most about Fashion Week. The city doesn’t pause for fashion; instead, fashion adapts and thrives in its momentum. It’s part adrenaline, part artistry, and it sweeps you along whether you’re ready or not.
The Moment I’ll Never Forget
Of all the unforgettable experiences, one stands above the rest: my fitting with Carolina Herrera and the show that followed. Even now, recalling it gives me goosebumps. I remember the hush in the room just before the lights dimmed—the anticipation was electric, but at the same time, there was a stillness that made the moment feel sacred. Sitting there, surrounded by icons and industry legends I’ve admired for years, was surreal enough. But then came the show itself.
Wes Gordon’s debut for the house of Herrera was nothing short of breathtaking. Vibrant colors swept the runway, silhouettes swung between playful and timeless, and the artistry of the collection captured everything I adore about fashion: its ability to be bold, beautiful, and eternal all at once. For me, it was more than just a show—it was a dream come true, the kind of Fashion Week moment I’d imagined since I first set foot in New York.
Inspiration Beyond the Runway
Between the fittings, the shows, the hurried lunches (including one at Instagram and Facebook’s headquarters), and the endless stream of inspiration, this Fashion Week reminded me of something important: fashion is about more than clothes. It’s about storytelling.
Every designer’s collection is an ode—to cultures, to icons, to history, to innovation. It’s a dialogue between the past and present, stitched together with imagination. And for those of us who get to witness it, it’s an invitation to think bigger about how we present ourselves to the world. Because fashion isn’t just about what you wear—it’s about the statement you make with it.
Why I Keep Coming Back
Fashion Week is exhausting, unpredictable, and sometimes overwhelming. But it’s also deeply encouraging, endlessly creative, and full of moments that remind me why I fell in love with this industry in the first place. Each season, it pushes me to experiment, to play, and to approach style as a way of expression and connection.
So while the city buzzes with flashing cameras, sidewalk shows, and late-night edits, there’s a greater rhythm beneath it all: the rhythm of storytelling through fashion. It’s what unites us—designers, editors, creators, and dreamers alike.
And on that note, I’m thrilled to share all the looks I wore this Fashion Week—each one a small piece of my own story in this whirlwind city that never stops inspiring.
